COLLEGE PARK, MD — Two delivery workers were carjacked at gunpoint early Thursday and all of the packages stolen from their box truck before they were freed, Maryland State Police said. Authorities hope early morning drivers in the College Park area might have seen something that will lead to the robbers.

The armed carjacking and abduction occurred about 5 a.m. Thursday in Prince George’s County.

Authorities have not released the names of the victims, but said one is from Washington, D.C., and the other is from Forestville. They were delivering packages throughout Maryland and operating a yellow Freightliner box truck at the time of the incident.

Neither of the victims reported any injuries to the police.

The victims told police that shortly after exiting onto the inner loop of I-495 from I-95 South, they were approached by two vehicles, described as a relatively new black Dodge Durango and a black four-door Mercedes sedan. The two vehicles reportedly forced the delivery workers off the road at gunpoint and demanded the men get out of the truck.

Five men, at least two of whom had firearms, forced both of the delivery workers to get into the back of the truck, where more than 100 packages were being stored. The men were driven to an unknown location, believed to be in Maryland, where the robbers held them inside the truck while the packages were removed.

All five suspects are described as wearing black or dark clothing with full face coverings.

Once all the packages were taken from the truck, the workers and their vehicle were released. The men then drove to Washington, D.C., before eventually going to the College Park Barrack of the Maryland State Police to report these crimes.

Investigators ask anyone who saw the carjacking to contact Maryland State Police at 301-345-3101.
