2 DeMatha Students Named Among Nation's Top Football Prospects

Both students of the Hyattsville high school have committed to the University of Maryland.

HYATTSVILLE, MD — Two students from Hyattsville's DeMatha Catholic High School have been named among the nation's top football prospects, and they're both going to be Terps.

All-purpose back Anthony McFarland Jr., ranked No. 100 in the nation, and offensive tackle Marcus Minor, ranked No. 225 in the country, will both stay in Prince George's County, opting to sign with the University of Maryland, according to 24/7 Sports.

McFarland received a number of offers from top teams in the nation like Alabama, Clemson and Florida State. He also had visits with Miami and Penn State, but opted to stay local with the Terps.

Minor will continue to be his teammate by also opting to join the Terps. Minor fielded offers from Auburn, Michigan State, Miami, Boston College and a host of others.

DeMatha has long been a dominant football program that has produced top prospects. Alumni of the school include current NFL players such as Josh Wilson, Derek Cameron Wake, Rodney McLeod and Cyrus and Arie Kouandjio.
