4 New Grocery Stores Open In MD; Company Plans Statewide Growth
A German grocer is bringing 10 new stores and 400 jobs to Maryland. Four locations open on Wednesday.

MARYLAND — Four new Lidl grocery stores will open in Maryland this Wednesday. The stores will be in Brooklyn Park, Takoma Park, Timonium and Oxon Hill.
These grocers are a few of the 10 that the company plans to open in Maryland. The chain currently has nine stores in the state.
"It is exciting news that a fast-growing global company like Lidl is continuing to invest and offer good-paying job opportunities at a time when they are needed the most," Gov. Larry Hogan said in an August press release announcing the stores. "We welcome these new stores to our communities, and look forward to working with Lidl to ensure their continued growth and success in Maryland."

The chain currently has more than 100 locations in America. Though Lidl is growing, two of its North Carolina sites will close, Business Insider reports.
The $500 million expansion plan calls for 50 new stores across nine east coast states. This will bring about 2,000 jobs to the region. Hogan said the forthcoming Maryland stores will create about 400 jobs in the state.
