40% Fully Vaccinated In Prince George's; Metrics Hit Record Lows
More than 40 percent of Prince Georgians are fully vaccinated. The county accomplished the feat last week. Metrics are now at record lows.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Around 41 percent of Prince George's County residents are fully inoculated. About 48 percent have gotten at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

Improving Metrics
In other news, the coronavirus case rate is at its best clip since March 2020. The percent positivity has dipped to its lowest mark ever. And the hospitalization count has fallen to a record low.
Last week's 142 infections are up 17 from the week prior. This is the fourth straight week that the county recorded less than 500 weekly cases, an achievement that was elusive since April 2020.

It was also the seventh straight week that Prince George's posted less than 1,000 new infections. Before this stretch, the county hadn't accomplished the feat since late last October.
The virus also killed six county residents last week, which is one more than the week before, the Maryland Department of Health said. Here's a look at where the numbers stand in Prince George's County.

Full Vaccinations
- Currently: 41.31 percent
- Trend: Up by 1.84 percentage points
- Rank: 15th out of the state's 24 jurisdictions
- Trend: Down by one slot
- Comments: New full immunizations rose slightly last week, snapping a four-week downturn. They still fell short of the record high, set five weeks ago. Prince George's had the lowest inoculation rate in Maryland until April 26.

At Least One Dose
- Currently: 48.06 percent
- Trend: Up by 1.16 percentage points
This is the percentage of residents who have gotten at least one dose of the inoculation. The Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines both require two shots. The Johnson & Johnson immunization only has one injection.
Coronavirus Case Rate
- Currently: 2.23
- Trend: Down by 0.1
- Comments: The case rate fell for the ninth straight week. Before that, infections were on a four-week hike. The case rate was even lower on June 7 when it fell to 2.18. That was the lowest clip since March 27, 2020.
- Recent High: 21.43 on April 14
- Recent Low: 2.18 on June 7
- Overall High: 58.83 on Jan. 14
- Overall Low: 0.5 on March 23, 2020
Hospitalizations
- Currently: 20
- Trend: Down by 9
- Comments: Hospitalizations declined for the eighth straight week. The count has dropped by 138 in this span. This is the lowest total that Prince George's has ever seen during the coronavirus pandemic.
- Recent High: 158 in the week of April 11
- Recent Low: 20 in the week of June 6
- Overall High: 244 in the week of May 3, 2020
- Overall Low: 20 in the week of June 6
ICU Hospitalizations
- Currently: 7
- Trend: Down by 5
- Comments: Intensive Care Unit hospitalizations declined for the eighth straight week. This is the lowest clip that the county has ever recorded.
- Recent High: 56 in the week of April 11
- Recent Low: 7 in the week of June 6
- Overall High: 75 in the week of Dec. 27, 2020
- Overall Low: 7 in the week of June 6
Positivity Rate
- Currently: 1.23 percent
- Trend: Down by 0.17 percentage points
- Comments: The positivity rate fell for the ninth straight week. The percent positivity was even lower on Wednesday when it fell to 1.21 percent. That was the county's lowest mark ever.
- Recent High: 6.32 percent on April 14
- Recent Low: 1.21 percent on June 9
- Overall High: 41.95 percent on May 2, 2020
- Overall Low: 1.21 percent on June 9
Total Cases And Deaths
Prince George's County's 85,346 coronavirus infections are the most in the state. The virus is blamed for the death of 1,546 county residents.
