UPDATE: Baysox National Anthem Auditions Postponed

UPDATE (Thursday, March 12, 4:30 p.m.): Over concerns about the spread of the new coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, the Bowie Baysox are postponing National Anthem Auditions scheduled for this Saturday, March 14. A new audition date will be announced once one becomes available.

BOWIE, MD — If your big-league dream is to sing the national anthem at a minor league ballpark, then the Bowie Baysox are offering a chance to fulfill it. The Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles is hosting live auditions for singers to perform "The Star-Spangled Banner" before all 70 home games of the 2020 season.

Auditions, which will be conducted on a first-come, first serve basis, are taking place Saturday, March 14, at Prince George's Stadium (4101 Crain Highway, Bowie, MD 20716). Registration opens at 9 a.m. and auditions begin at 9:30 a.m. All participants mush register in-person. No recordings or videos will be accepted for review. Individuals that performed or were approved to perform during the 2019 season do not have to audition again this year.

Auditions are open to individuals, small groups or instrumentalists. Large school or church groups should call the Baysox at 301-464-4880.

The Baysox are also looking for individuals interested in working at stadium events or at games during this upcoming season.

Game day and events positions available are:

  • Ticket Takers
  • Bag Checkers
  • Ushers
  • Parking Crew
  • Bat Boys (age 15 and up)
  • Kids Park Attendants
  • Game Program Distributors
  • Team Store Attendants
  • HD Video Camera Operators.

Interested applicants must be at least 16-years-old by April 9, 2020. All applicants need to fill out an application in order to be considered. Anyone hired who is under 18 must provide a work permit before the start of employment.

The Bowie Baysox will be playing their 2020 home opener on Thursday, April 9, 6:35 p.m., against the Richmond Flying Squirrels.
