BOWIE, MD - You know we are in the holiday season when the Christmas trees come out of hiding. In the United States, the tradition of decorating trees really isn't that old, though. In fact, the first record of one being on display was in the 1830s by the German settlers of Pennsylvania, according to History.com.
The tradition obviously continues today and shows absolutely now signs of slowing down. Last year, 77 percent of U.S. households celebrated the holiday season with a Christmas tree, the American Christmas Tree Association reported. In 2018, 95 million people put up a tree. Of that number, 82 percent of Christmas trees were artificial while 17.9 percent were real.
Real or fake, one thing is certain. Bowie residents love their Christmas trees, too. Recently, Patch took to social media to ask for some great Christmas tree submissions. Of course, Bowie residents did not disappoint. Here are some of your photos below:
