Bowie Restaurants Learn To Adapt To Coronavirus

BOWIE, MD — Many people in Bowie have been stuck at home for the last couple of weeks as they practice social distancing in response to the new coronavirus, also known as COVID-19.

Two weeks ago, Gov. Larry Hogan ordered all restaurants, bars, gyms and theaters closed to discourage groups from gathering. In addition, restaurants had to close for dining-in and stay open only for drive-thru, carryout and food delivery service. On Monday, Hogan issued a stay-at-home order for all Maryland.

Local businesses have been hit pretty hard by these restrictions. Some restaurants are closed until further notice, such as Rock & Toss Crab House. Other restaurants, though, are learning to adapt and continue to operate.

Here's an incomplete list of the Bowie restaurants that are still open and ready to serve you:

• Jerry’s Seafood (15211 Major Lansdale Blvd., Bowie MD 20721) will remain open for carryout only until further notice. Diners are encouraged to call 301-805-2284 to place a carryout order.

• Rips Country Inn (3605, 3809 Crain Highway, Bowie, MD 20716) will be offering carry out for lunch from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. and dinner from 4-7 p.m. Orders can be placed over the phone and picked up at the front of our restaurant. The Spirit Shoppe and Deli will continue to open at their usual times. 301-805-5900

• Old Bowie Town Grille (8604 Chestnut Ave., Bowie, MD 20715) is open for curbside, takeout and delivery service with new hours: Monday-Thursday, 3-8 p.m., and Friday-Sunday, 12-8 p.m. 301-464-8800
• Ichiban Sushi Asian Bistro (3921 Evergreen Parkway, Bowie, MD 20716) is open for carry out online on Sunday-Thursday, from 11 a.m.-9 p.m., and Friday-Saturday, from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. 301-352-9160
