BOWIE, MD — There's lots going on in Bowie this weekend, from the homecoming parade to Halloween on Ice and Octoberfest at the Farmers Market. Or you can take in a concert or a play. Here's a rundown, courtesy of the city of Bowie.

Traffic Alert – Bowie High School Parade – Saturday, October 26

Much of Belair Drive will be closed tomorrow morning for the Bowie High School Homecoming Parade. (Saturday, October 26) starting at 9:30 a.m. The parade steps off at 10 a.m. near the intersection of Belair Drive and Tulip Grove Drive and continues down Belair Dr., crosses 450, and concludes on the football field at the high school. Expect delays in the area.

Halloween Trick or Treating Hours

Halloween is October 31. Suggested hours for trick or treating are 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The Bowie Police Department reminds trick or treaters and their parents to watch out for cars, carry a flashlight, and check all treats carefully. Drug Take Back Day – Saturday, October 26

The Bowie Police Department is once again hosting a drop off site for the DEA's Drug Take Back Day. Stop by the lobby of the Bowie Police Department on Saturday, October 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to safely and responsibly dispose of unused or expired medications. The Bowie Police Department is located on the lower level of Bowie City Hall at 15901 Excalibur Road, Bowie. (Needles, sharps, and aerosol medications cannot be accepted.) Halloween on Ice at the Ice Arena – Saturday, October 26

Join us at Bowie Ice Arena for some Halloween fun on ice from 1 to 3 p.m. Enjoy music, skating, door prizes, treat bags, and a costume contest with prizes! We will be collecting canned food items for the Bowie Pantry. Wear a costume or bring a canned good for free admission. If you wear a costume and bring a canned food item, you will also get a free skate rental.

Fall Concert Series Concludes with Bluegrass/Country Music – October 26

Enjoy a Bluegrass/Country performance by Off Track at Town Green Park on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. in Old Town Bowie. Concerts are canceled in the event of rain.

Final Weekend for “Last Night of Ballyhoo” at the Bowie Playhouse

Octoberfest at the Farmers’ Market – Sunday, October 27

Enjoy free scarecrow making and pumpkin painting at the Farmers’ Market Octoberfest event on October 27 at Bowie High School. Participants must supply long-sleeve shirt and trousers to dress the scarecrow and can bring/purchase pumpkins. Market hours are 8 a.m. to noon. Activities take place from 9 to 11 a.m.
