Cherry Blossoms In Full Bloom At National Harbor

OXON HILL, MD — Many locals know about the National Cheery Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C., but the National Harbor also has a celebration. The blossoms are in full bloom in Oxon Hill, and the town is ready.

Artist Josue “Cortino” Martinez decorated the neighborhood with 26 oversized cherry blossom sculptures along the Potomac River. His work shines underneath the light of The Capital Wheel, which illuminates in a bright pink every night.

MGM National Harbor opened a spring garden conservatory. Muse Paintbar is hosting art classes inspired by the blossoms. BrookieGirl Bath + Body Care even offers cherry blossom cosmetics.

Restaurants have seasonal treats like the:

• Cherry Blossom Messysicles from Messy Treatz
• Cherry Cheesecake from National Market in MGM
• Cherry Pink Lemonade cheesecake from The Furlough Cheesecake
• Cherry Truffles from Savannah Candy Kitchen
• Crème Brulee cheesecake with cherry drizzle and fresh cherries from Bar Harbor at Hyatt Place

Bars feature themed drinks such as the:

• Blossom Blast Cocktail from Voltaggio Brothers in MGM
• Cherry Blossom Spritz from Bond 45
• Sakura Fling from the Westin
• Silver Blossom from Bar Harbor in Hyatt Place
• Strawberry Mochi from Ginger in MGM
• Whiskey Cherry Coke from TAP Sports Bar in MGM

The festival concludes this weekend with one more Sakura Sunday, a celebration named after the Japanese word for cherry blossom. This last hoorah will include Japanese art, yoga and meditation classes.
