HYATTSVILLE, MD — Jermaine Fowler grew up in Prince George's County. Now, the actor costars with Eddie Murphy in "Coming 2 America."

The film is a sequel to 1988's "Coming to America," a comedy about an African Prince who journeys to New York City to find true love. The Amazon Prime sequel came out last Friday, nearly 33 years later.

For Fowler, it's a chance to work with his role model. NBC Washington reported that Fowler idolized Murphy as a child.

"They say never meet your heroes, but working with Eddie exceeded every expectation," Fowler told the news outlet. "Working with him and seeing him in his element was awesome."

Fowler started his comedy career in Hyattsville at Northwestern High School, NBC added. He went on to act in "Superior Donuts," a CBS TV show that aired in 2017 and 2018. In"Coming 2 America," Fowler plays Murphy's long-lost son, Lavelle Junson.
