On April 3, 2015, Ethel L. Smith, 88, of Bowie, loving mother and grandmother, passed peacefully into Heaven while surrounded by her family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas C. Smith, Jr.; her parents, Edna and Henry Larrabee; her brother, Richard Larrabee; daughter-in-law, Alexandra Smith; and three infant grandchildren, Jeremiah Dixon, Patricia Smith-Goldsborough, and Madison Kinnamon.

She is survived by her children, Joan K. (Jim) Dixon of Williamsport, MD, Thomas C. Smith, III of Annapolis, MD, James R. (Kathy) Smith of New Carrollton, MD, and Barbara Smith of Bowie, MD; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Edward Larrabee of Bountiful, UT and Robert Larrabee of Daytona Beach, FL; and a sister-in-law, Bea Larrabee of Dracut, MA.
The family will receive friends at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 NW Crain Hwy. (Rte. 3 South), in Bowie, on Saturday, April 11, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, 1940 Mitchellville Road in Bowie, on Monday, April 13, at 11 a.m. Ethel will be laid to rest with her husband, Tom, at the Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society National Office, 1311 Mamaroneck Ave., Ste. 310, White Plains, NY 10605, in honor of her great-granddaughter, Jaime Kinnamon, and her ongoing battle with leukemia.
