Excited Puppy, Cat Found In Snowstorm Need Compassionate Homes

Toby is 1 year old, so he gets pretty excited. Griffin lived outside, but he couldn't find shelter in the snow. Both cuties need a new home.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Patch recently partnered with the SPCA/Humane Society of Prince George's County. Each week, we will bring you the cutest pets looking for homes. Here are this week's adorable adoptables. Click on their names for more information.

Toby

I’m smart (if I do say so myself) and food-motivated. I enjoy games, like fetch. I like to chew and will happily entertain myself by gnawing on an elk antler or trying to pull apart my toys. When I have a task, I can be very focused and eager to please. I sit on command and come when called. I am quickly learning stay and down. I’m also working on walking on a leash, but I’m still young and can get excited and pull or jump.

As a pandemic pup, I have spent a lot of time at home and get nervous at new sights, loud noises or unknown people or dogs (although I’m good once I meet them). I need a patient owner who will continue my training and help me get more comfortable with my surroundings. Your efforts will be well rewarded because I am also extremely sweet and affectionate. When I crawl into your lap and rest my head on your shoulder, you’ll never want to let me go. At 40 pounds, I’m small enough to be a lap dog, right?

Everyone says they have the cutest dog, but there’s a decent chance I actually hold that title. I’m looking for someone to love and trust, who has time for training, playing and cuddling.

Griffin

Personality: I’m an older boy who loves pets and toys. I’m an explorer and very curious about the world. I like to poke around and see what I can get into. My foster mom calls me sassy pants because I don’t like to be told what to do. Sometimes I am cranky when she tries to stop me from doing what I want, but I am a softie at heart. Mostly I just glare at her. I always come back for chin scratches, though.

Hobbies: Napping, looking out the window, eating treats

Favorite Toy: Strings and anything dangling from a string

Favorite Napping Spot: Dark, hidden spaces, like under the bed

How I came to the SPCA: I was a friendly cat in a managed outdoor colony, and during a snowstorm, my feeder found me soaking wet and shivering. All the other cats were dry and warm but I wasn’t able to find a dry place to wait out the storm, so she took me home with her. Though I’m a little scared, I like having a safe, warm home.

Dream Family: I would like a quiet home with another cat to keep me company, and help me learn that my new family will be nice to me. I’ve spent my whole life with other cats, and I’m lonely without them. I need my family to be patient while I get to know them. I hope my home has lots of hiding spaces, windows to look out, and toys to play with. I may be an old man, but I have lots of energy still!
