FedEx Field May Host World Cup Games: Report
FedEx Field has reportedly been submitted as a potential site as the United States crafts its bid to FIFA to host the 2026 World Cup.

LANDOVER, MD -- FedEx Field could host several World Cup games in 2026 if the United States' bid to host the tournament is successful.
FedEx Field and Ravens Stadium in Baltimore are two stadiums out of 32 that are competing to be part of the United States' formal bid to FIFA, according to an NBC Washington report.
Event officials from D.C. and Maryland presented their stadiums to leaders of the United Bid Committee in Houston last week, the report states.

Written proposals are due by Jan. 19.
Additionally, the University of Maryland could be designated as a training site as part of the bid.

“Hosting the World Cup in Washington, D.C., could provide an economic impact of up to $600 million,” said Elliott L. Ferguson II, president and CEO of Destination DC, according to the NBC Washington report. “We’re thrilled to potentially add the World Cup to our lineup and welcome soccer fans from around the globe.”
