Huge MLB Trades Are Happening Right Here in PG County
The Red Sox and White Sox just made a deal in National Harbor that would send ace Chris Sale to Boston.
NATIONAL HARBOR, MD — It could be one of the biggest offseasons for Major League Baseball in terms of big-name players switching teams, and all the action is unfolding right here in Prince George's County.
That's because the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor is hosting the 2016 Baseball Winter Meetings starting on Sunday, Dec. 4 and wrapping up Thursday, Dec. 8.
"Every year, baseball executives and staff, media, exhibitors and job seekers from around the world converge at the Baseball Winter Meetings to network with peers, fill job openings, attend workshops and discuss innovating trends in the industry," according to the website for Minor League Baseball.

But more importantly, the Winter Meetings are where the big trade deals go down. On Tuesday, perhaps the biggest news story of the 2016-17 MLB offseason broke: Chicago White Sox ace Chris Sale was going to the Boston Red Sox instead of the Washington Nationals.
Representatives of all 30 baseball teams and 160 minor league affiliates are convening in National Harbor to discuss league business and conduct trades. League executives, team owners, general managers, scouts and other representatives are all meeting in Prince George's County to completely change the future makeup of MLB franchises.
