HYATTSVILLE, MD — A man is dead after his SUV crashed into multiple parked cars and then caught fire in Hyattsville over the weekend, police say.

Police responded to the 3400 block of Purdue Street at around 2 a.m. on Nov. 9 to a report of a vehicle collision, according to a report from the Prince George's County Police Department. They found 23-year-old Matthew Thomas Sullivan of Huntingtown dead from his injuries.

"The preliminary investigation reveals Sulllivan’s SUV struck multiple parked and unoccupied cars before his SUV caught fire," the report states. "Sullivan suffered severe burns and was pronounced dead on the scene.

"Investigators are working to determine what caused the victim to strike the parked cars," the report adds.

Police asked anyone with information to contact them.
