Maryland Weather: Up to 2 Inches Possible, Impacting Monday Commute

A winter weather advisory has been issued for Sunday night and early Monday morning for parts of Maryland, as accumulation estimates shift slightly higher for some parts of the region, according to the National Weather Service.

Areas under the advisory include communities in and around Prince George's, Anne Arundel and other counties in southeastern Maryland.

The snow advisory will run from 10 p.m. until 7 a.m. The areas under the advisory can expect to see a coating of 1 inch, with localized amounts up to 2 inches expected south of Interstate 66 in Virginia and east of Interstate 95 in Maryland, according to the weather service.

Snow will begin falling after dark, with the steadiest snow expected between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. The snow is expected to end around 6 a.m. Monday morning.

"Roads will be mainly wet this evening with temperatures above freezing," according to the Weather Service. "Untreated surfaces will become slippery after midnight with temperatures dropping to near or slightly below freezing."

The cold temperatures will help the winter weather, with the high Monday at only 39 degrees, and overnight lows in the 20s.

There's another slight chance for snow showers Tuesday morning, but the day is expected to warm to nearly 50 degrees by the afternoon.
