BOWIE, MD — Bowie singer Tamara Jade advanced to the live playoff round of "The Voice" on Tuesday night. Jade is one of 24 contestants remaining in the show.

In this third stage of competition, known as the knockout round, contestants square off against a teammate. They each sing a solo, and their coach decides who wins the matchup.

Jade took on Casmè, singing "Higher Ground" by Stevie Wonder. Their coach, R&B singer John Legend, ultimately picked Jade to advance.

In this week-long stage, the top two vote-getters from each of the four teams advance. Every judge then picks one more competitor to move on.

After that, the top 12 singers head to the live performance rounds. Voters then have complete control as they widdle the contestants down over five weeks.

The winner of "The Voice" will take home $100,000 and earn a recording contract with Universal Music Group.

"It's been my dream since I was a kid," Jade said in a teary post-performance interview. "I'm so grateful."

Jade first caught attention during her audition, which aired on Oct. 19. That performance drew interest from all four judges. The video of her tryout has amassed more than 1.6 million views on YouTube.

"The Voice" airs on NBC each Monday from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. and every Tuesday from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. It is also available on Hulu.
