Memorial Service Planned for Arts Leader Mary Nusser
The Bowie High School graduate died Dec. 27; a memorial service will be held Jan. 30 at the Bowie Center for the Performing Arts.

A memorial service has been planned for Mary Nusser, a leader in the fundraising and operation of the Bowie Center for the Performing Arts, who died Sunday.
Nusser, 59, died Dec. 27 of a heart attack, The Capital-Gazette reports. She was a 1973 graduate of Bowie High School.
Nusser led fundraising efforts to build the center, which opened in 2007, and worked as its outreach coordinator.

Tributes were shared on the center’s Facebook page. Kay Morris wrote: “Mary will be truly missed. She touched so many lives and is a Bowie legend. My heart is very heavy and keeping her family in my thoughts and prayers.”
Her memorial service is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30, at Bowie Center for the Performing Arts, according to an online obituary. The service will be followed by a reception in the center’s main lobby.

In lieu of flowers, Nusser’s family suggests a donation to the Southern Poverty Law Center in her name.
