A mother is raising money for her toddler's funeral. Police said a 3-year-old was fatally shot in Bowie earlier this week.
BOWIE, MD — Prince Frederick mother Khyri Harris is raising money for her toddler's funeral. Police said a 3-year-old boy died after he was shot in Bowie on Monday evening.
Officers announced his death Wednesday morning. Authorities did not identify the victim, but Harris explained that the child was her son Kayden.
"I really don’t know what to say," Harris wrote in her GoFundMe post. "It’s a lot to take in. It’s traumatizing."

An incident report indicated that police heard word of unknown trouble in the 16400 block of Governors Bridge Road around 6:15 p.m. Officers noted that they found the wounded child upon arrival. It is not clear who pulled the trigger or if it was intentional.
"I can’t even believe I’m doing this," Harris concluded. "You never think it can happen to you until it is you."
The homicide unit of the Prince George's County Police Department will handle the investigation, the write-up advised. This is normal protocol for serious gun crimes committed in the City of Bowie.
