Potomac High School Lockdown Lifted; Gun Seized From Student: Police
Potomac High School in Oxon Hill was on lockdown for about an hour Tuesday morning after a gun was taken from a student, police say.

OXON HILL, MD — Potomac High School in Oxon Hill was put on lockdown Tuesday morning for nearly an hour by school officials after a school resource officer spotted a trespasser on campus. Prince George's County Police say the school at 5211 Boydell Ave. in Oxon Hill was placed on lockdown just before 11 a.m. and lifted by 11:40 a.m.
The officer was notified that a former student met a current student on school grounds. When the officer questioned the current student, a gun was seized by police and the student was taken into custody, according to the department's Twitter feed.
"Out of an abundance of caution, school placed on lockdown by school officials," police tweeted.
