Prince George's Company Expands HQ, Brings New Jobs To County
A Prince George's company is expanding its headquarters and bringing new jobs to the county. Gov. Larry Hogan cheered the news.
UPPER MARLBORO, MD — A Prince George's County company is expanding its Upper Marlboro headquarters and bringing new jobs to the area. The Maryland Department of Commerce announced the news Tuesday. The business, Capital Electric, sells lighting products across the Mid-Atlantic region.
"We moved our headquarters from Alexandria, Virginia to Prince George’s County, Maryland in 2008 and never looked back," Capital Electric President Andrew Esce said in a press release. "The expansion of our home is a testament to our commitment to the county and state."
Capital Electric will construct a 362,880 square-foot warehouse and office at 8711 Westphalia Road. Leaders did not mention when the complex will open.

The company will also hire 10 more full-time employees over the next four years. They will join a staff of more than 230.
"For more than a decade, Capital Electric has invested in Prince George’s County," Gov. Larry Hogan added in the release. "This expansion reaffirms the company’s dedication to doing business in Maryland."

The Maryland Department of Commerce awarded a $250,000 loan to Capital Electric to help with the build. The money is contingent on job creation and local investment.
"The expansion of Capital Electric is a growth opportunity that will not only benefit the company, but also the state of Maryland and Prince George’s County," Maryland Commerce Secretary Kelly Schulz noted. "We are excited to see the outcomes of this project and its benefits for everyone involved."
Prince George's County also contributed a conditional $250,000 loan.
"We are proud of the role that Prince George’s played in facilitating the relocation and expansion of Capital Electric’s headquarters and warehouse," said David Iannucci, president and CEO of the Prince George’s County Economic Development Corporation.
Trammell Crow Company, a real estate developer based in Dallas, will manage the build.
"Capital Electric’s new headquarters represents the culmination of years of close collaboration with state, county and local leaders," Trammell Crow Managing Director David Neuman explained."Trammell Crow Company is thrilled to have played a role in keeping jobs and economic development within the county."
