These 2 Pets With Medical Conditions Need Extra Love: SPCA
These two animals may have health conditions, but they make great pets and deserve lots of love. Here are this week's adorable adoptables.
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Patch recently partnered with the SPCA/Humane Society of Prince George's County. Each week, we will bring you the cutest pets looking for homes. Here are this week's adorable adoptables.
Turtle-Adult Pointer (4 years old; 50 pounds).
Personality: Greetings, my name is Turtle (aka Turtle Whurtle). I am a pretty active outdoor dog and I am just learning about the inside world with my foster mom.
Hobbies: I love to explore, chase balls and play with friends. Leashes and walks are new for me so I am still learning not to pull. I do not mind being left home while you are at work as long as I have some yard time to run around before and afterwards. My favorite part of the day is when you get home.

Favorite Toy: My foster mom has given me plenty of fun toys to chew on so I do not feel the need to chew on her toys. I am not too particular about my food and do not even mind if you there is some medication in my food bowl. Treats are nice but not a huge motivator for training. On the other hand I LOVE human food and I will beg with my big adorable puppy eyes (it has yet to work on my foster mom, she is a tough cookie to get human food from).
Favorite Napping Spot: I love affection and cuddling but do not require it all the time. I am happy to go lay in my crate, on my doggy bed or even on the couch. Noises are not a huge bother to me and I only bark if it is important which is not very often. The only noise that makes me really scared is thunder. When I hear thunder I try to find a safe, cozy, dark place to curl up in.

Dream Family: I’m heart worm positive and will still need to undergo treatment. I can still be adopted now, and the SPCA will cover the costs if you’re willing to bring me back to their vet for the treatment. Once treatment starts, I will need to be kept quiet for about 8 weeks.

Bailey
Personality: I’m a total teddy bear! I love to be held and scratched. I tolerate other animals, but really I just want to spend all my time with my human. I love to eat, and drink by scooping water up with my paws. I love to talk and I have a lot to say, so I hope you’re ready to listen to my stories!
Hobbies: Lounging and cuddling.
Favorite Toy: I love the laser light and the bird on a stick.
Favorite Napping Spot: Right next to my foster mom or better yet, on her lap.
Special Needs: The vet said I’m FIV+. I feel perfectly fine though, and studies show I can live a normal, long life. I won’t make anyone sick. I won’t even make other cats sick as long as we don’t fight and wound each other.
Dream Family: I want my new family to love me despite some battle scars and this FIV disease. I don’t think I like small children, and dogs scare me a bit. But another cat would be ok. As long as we don’t fight, I promise I won’t make him or her sick! I just want my humans to adore me and give me all the love and attention I deserve!

The local SPCA is a volunteer-run organization that does not operate a physical shelter. Volunteers house the animals in their own homes until they are adopted.
