Tornado Warning Issued For Prince George's County
BREAKING: Rain may hide the tornado, the National Weather Service warns.
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A tornado warning is in effect for Prince George's County until 8:15 a.m., according to the National Weather Service. The warning applies to southeastern Prince George's and northwestern Calvert counties, officials say.
A severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was detected by radar near Dunkirk or Chesapeake Beach that was moving west at 50 mph, according to the warning.
"This storm has a history of producing wind damage near Huntingtown," the National Weather Service reported, stating the radar showed rotation.

"For those in the direct path of a tornado touchdown, flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter," the warning states. "Damage to roofs, siding, and windows may occur. Mobile homes may be damaged or destroyed. Tree damage is likely."
These areas may be impacted: Rosaryville, Marlton, Dunkirk, Brandywine, Huntingtown, Baden, Aquasco, Lower Marlboro, Cheltenham and Sunderland.

Officials say that heavy rain may hide the tornado.
"Do not wait to see or hear the tornado," the National Weather Service warns. "TAKE COVER NOW!"
During a tornado warning, people should move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building and avoid windows.
Those who are outside, in a mobile home or in a vehicle should move to the closest substantial shelter for protection from flying debris.
