'Unethical' Actions Divide Prince George's School Board: Report
A school official said her colleagues committed "unethical and potentially illegal" actions, reports informed. An investigation is underway.
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — The Prince George's County Board of Education is mixed up in controversy. Half the members claim the school board should be investigated. The other half point their fingers at the new chair, Juanita Miller.
County Executive Angela Alsobrooks appointed Miller in January. Miller then claimed the board awarded contracts in an "unethical and potentially illegal" manner, FOX5 journalist Lindsay Watts reported. The chair canceled the school board's Feb. 11 meeting and demanded an immediate audit dating back two years, FOX5 added.
Miller's fellow board members are pushing back. Watts informed that seven members of the 14-person panel asked the Maryland State Board of Education to investigate the chair. They called Miller's allegations "meritless," and they asked for her removal if she cancels more meetings, Watts uncovered.
