Vaccine Allocation Quadruples For Prince Georgians At Six Flags
Getting a vaccine in Prince George's just got easier. The Six Flags mass immunization site will now save thousands of doses for locals.

UPPER MARLBORO, MD — The Six Flags America mass immunization site will now save 2,100 coronavirus vaccine doses for Prince Georgians each week, Gov. Larry Hogan announced Wednesday. Maryland previously reserved 500 weekly shots for locals at the site. The capacity increase starts next week.
The clinic is a state-operated location, so any eligible Marylander can try to book an appointment there. These reserved slots just guarantee that Prince Georgians have access to a slice of the inoculations in their own county. The site still has thousands of other appointments available to anybody eligible in the state.
Prince George's County continues to have the lowest vaccination rate in Maryland. The county has picked it up as of late, posting two straight weeks with a record number of immunizations. Hogan hopes the extra doses will bolster this trend.

"With vaccine supply from the federal government set to increase in the coming weeks, we are able to further expand priority appointments for Prince Georgians," Hogan said in a press release. "I want to commend the county executive and her team for all the steps they have taken to increase the vaccination rate in the county."
The extra shots come on top of the 10,000 weekly inoculations that other state facilities already administer to Prince Georgians. These efforts come through:

Prince George's has its own vaccination clinics and mobile immunization units. All these options mean the county can handle about 15,000 inoculations per week.
Maryland will contact everybody selected for shots at Six Flags through its new texting-based appointment system. Prince George's gave the state a list of 30,000 residents who preregistered through the county Health Department. These locals will get the first doses.
"We have been working diligently in the county to expand vaccination access for our residents," County Executive Angela Alsobrooks said in the release. "These new partnerships and increased access to appointments will help ensure vaccines are being distributed equitably to the hardest-hit jurisdiction in the state."
