Weather Alert Extended for Prince George's County

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for several Maryland counties, along with Washington, D.C.

The counties in the warned area include Prince George’s and Montgomery until 6:15 p.m.

A line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60
mph is moving through the area at 55 mph.

Cities in the path of the storm are: Rockville, Gaithersburg, College Park, Greenbelt, Clinton, Olney and Bethesda.

A tornado watch remains in effect for the area until 11 p.m. for the area.
