Woman, 89, Dies After Hit-And-Run Pedestrian Crash: Police

An 89-year-old woman died after a hit-and-run pedestrian accident, police said. Officers noted that the woman was from Fort Washington.

DISTRICT HEIGHTS, MD — Police said an 89-year-old woman died after she was struck by a car in District Heights on June 23. Authorities on Monday identified the victim as Beatrice Lumpkin of Fort Washington. Officers explained that the crash happened around 10:20 p.m. at the intersection of Silver Hill Road and Plaza Drive.

The striking car was heading west on Silver Hill Road, an incident report stated. The driver fled from the scene of the hit-and-run pedestrian crash, the write-up alleged.

Investigators informed that they don't know why the woman was in the roadway. Medics took her to an unnamed hospital where she died soon after, the press release mentioned.
