Semi-Automatic Weapons Seized From 20-Year-Old's Hingham Home

HINGHAM, MA — Hingham police said a loaded AR-15-style rifle, semi-automatic handgun, ballistic helmet, handcuffs, knife and several loaded and unloaded gun clips were seized at a 20-year-old West Street resident's home during a SWAT team-assisted raid Wednesday morning.

Police said Julian J. Gilmartin faces 26 charges, including two counts of possession of a large capacity firearm, possession of a dangerous weapon, three counts of leaving a firearm unattended, improper storage of a large-capacity firearm, possession of ammunition without a federal identification and 18 counts of possession of a large-capacity feeding device.

Police said several portable radios, additional gun and rifle parts, a tourniquet, packages of Quick Clot, the zip-tie handcuffs and double-edged knife were also seized.

Hingham police said they received a tip that a resident was seen in an online video unloading and loading an AR-15-style rifle. They said the tip also included information that the suspect had a bullet-protection vest and made references to killing police and federal agents.

Police said they raided the house at about 5:40 a.m. with assistance from Cohasset, Hanover, Hull and Norwell police and detectives. The Metro-LEC SWAT team assisted in the warrant search due to the large number of weapons possibly involved.

Police said the residents were ordered out of the house, and that they complied. Police said the items were found in the victim's bedroom. Police said it appears that some of the items found had been shipped to the home from out of state.

No other residents were charged. The suspect was arraigned remotely on Wednesday and was ordered held without bail pending a dangerous hearing scheduled for Monday.
