Public Ferry Connecting Hingham To Georges Island Resumes
After being closed for a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, public ferry service from the Hingham to Georges Island will resume this summer.
HINGHAM, MA — Public ferry service from Hingham to Georges Island has resumed for the first time since summer 2019, connecting South Shore communities more directly to the Boston Harbor Islands National and State Park.
The ferry provides a route to the city by means of water, eliminating traffic and cutting down on emissions by dropping passengers to Georges Island, just over 7 miles from downtown Boston.
Last year, the South Shore connection was not offered due to COVID-19 precautions.
