Hingham Police Department: Reminder When Making Purchases From Solicitors

Hingham, MA- Over the last 2 weeks, we have received calls from residents who purchased magazine subscriptions from solicitors who came to their front door. Some residents gave checks to the solicitors even though they felt it may have not a legitimate purchase. Some residents told us they called their bank to stop payment on their check.   

As a reminder, when asked to make a purchase from someone unsolicited, you should do your own research, do an online company search, check the rating of a company with the Better Business Bureau or just decline.
