Coronavirus: Hingham Public Schools Issue Stay-At-Home Advisory

Hingham Schools will continue to offer free meals and are working to collect and distribute laptop computers

HINGHAM, MA — Hingham Public Schools officials said on Monday that free breakfast and lunch will still be available to students in need, while the laptop donations are being accepted and distributed, after Gov. Charlie Baker announced that a statewide stay-at-home directive will go into place at noon on Tuesday. Gov. Baker announced the order, guidelines, and exceptions Monday morning.

Due to the directive, all schools buildings will be closed with non-essential personnel asked not to report to schools, but food services will continue the meals-to-go program for students and children 18 years old or younger.

Hingham Public Schools are also asking for donations for district-wide technology so students can learn from home if the statewide school closure goes beyond April 7. Students in need of a Google Chromebook are asked to contact Joe Andrews, Manager of Technology Services, by the end of the day on Monday for distribution before noon on Tuesday at jandrews@hinghampublicschools.org. Email access help is also available for those who do not have it at this time.
