Derby Street Brings 4 Local Businesses For Holiday Season

The spirit of Small Business Saturday is coming to the Derby Street Shops for the entire holiday season.

HINGHAM, MA — The spirit of Small Business Saturday is coming to the Derby Street Shops for the entire holiday season. Four locally owned businesses are starting pop up stores at the outdoor shopping plaza.

The Derby Street Shops, hosts many popular retail chains like the Paper Store, Sephora and American that are sure to be a hit this holiday season, but the shops' director of retail incubation, Carina Donoso said Derby Street also wanted to bring something uniquely local.

“It is our mission to create meaningful experiences for our community; the community being both the shopper and the business owner. We are really excited to expand upon Derby Street's selection of local businesses and to allow guests to shop local and shop small this holiday season, whether looking for hostess gifts or shopping for the perfect holiday outfit,” said Donoso.

Levitate

Levitate, a Marshfield-based surf brand known and loved for placing community at the forefront of its business model, has returned to Derby Street for its third annual holiday pop-up. The pop-up will offer a range of gifts such as Levitate’s best-selling heavyweight flannels and cozy winter hats for women, men and kids.

New to the pop-up this year, Levitate introduces a variety of local brands such as Luce Farms, Seabird Coffee, and Howler Brothers and a vacation corner with swimwear from Levitate, L Space, Maaji and more. Levitate will offer embroidery services on apparel on select dates, adding a personalized touch to any gift.

Owned by husband and wife Daniel and Jessica Hassett, Levitate aims to bring people together through surf, skate, and music. Look out for details on special acoustic singer-songwriter performances throughout the season. Levitate’s pop-up will be located next to Rustic Kitchen.

plantsandponytails

Plantsandponytails, a South Shore plant shop founded by Maryann Gibbons, has the mission to make houseplants commonplace again. Opening its Derby pop-up in December, plants and ponytails carries easy care houseplants, succulents, cacti and air plants.

Workshops such as Houseplant Basics for adults and Little Green Thumbs for kids will be offered, giving beginner plant owners the right tools and confidence to care for their plants. Potting services are offered in addition to quality plant vessels and plant based products that promote a life more connected to our earth. plantsandponytails will be located next to Elburne.

Plantsandponytails is not yet open, but will open shop on Dec. 1.

Luxe Leisure

Luxe Leisure, a Boston favorite known for its impeccably curated and versatile collection of women’s contemporary fashion brands, has joined Derby Street for its first ever Hingham pop-up. Expect to see popular designers like IRO, Mackage, and ALC, as well as celebrity and niche brands such as Fleur du Mal, P.E Nation and MICHI.

Whether seeking the perfect holiday party outfit, day to evening look, or exploring a new denim style a la FRAME, 3x1 and Rag & Bone Denim, shoppers will receive the ultimate personalized shopping experience. Luxe Leisure is located next to The Paper Store and Rustic Kitchen.

Elburne

Elburne, an eco-friendly home décor boutique, will bring a piece of the Cape to Derby Street with its thoughtfully sourced products and one-of-a-kind gifts. Founded by sisters Laura and Simone Pereira in 2016, Elburne offers a diverse assortment of reclaimed and sustainable products by inspiring, community-minded companies and artists.

Standing by a mission to support local makers, the pop-up will carry products unique to the Hingham area and will host local artist events throughout the season. The Derby Street pop-up will also showcase best-selling prints by Michael DuBois of Dream of the Woods and gifts such as serve-ware, throw pillows, and handmade rugs. Elburne’s pop-up will be located next to The Shade Store.

Elburne is not yet open, but will open shop on Dec. 1.
