Drunk Driver Strikes Utility Pole In Hingham: Police

The driver allegedly veered off the road onto a sidewalk before crashing into the utility pole.

HINGHAM, MA — A driver has been accused of striking a utility pole while under the influence of alcohol, said the Hingham Police Department in a Twitter post Monday.

Police say the crash took place at approximately 10 p.m. Friday on Route 3A near Bathing Beach.

The driver allegedly veered off the road onto a sidewalk before hitting the utility pole. A spare tire from the vehicle also struck another car.

Police say the driver was arrested for an OUI first-offense.

No injuries were reported.
