Hingham 9-Year-Old Struck In Crosswalk Near School: Police
Hingham police said the child suffered serious injuries and was taken via MedFlight to Massachusetts General Hospital.
HINGHAM, MA — A 9-year-old in Hingham suffered serious injuries late Wednesday afternoon when he was struck in a crosswalk in front of the Plymouth River School.
Hingham police said a 61-year-old Scituate driver was cited in the collision after police said she drove around cars who had stopped for two boys in the crosswalk and struck one of the boys.
Police said the injured boy was taken via Medflight to Massachusetts General Hospital.

Police said the investigation showed the boys left the school and waited at the crosswalk near High Street. Cars in both directions stopped for the children to cross, but an SUV driven by the Scituate woman drove around the stopped eastbound cars and struck the first boy in the crosswalk.
The second boy was not hit.

Police said the SUV stopped and that the driver was given citations for negligent operation, failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk and a marked lanes violation.
She is set to appear at Hingham District Court to answer the charges.
Hingham officers were assisted at the scene by Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office, Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section and Crime Scene Services.
