Hingham Baseball Crushes Silver Lake In Patriot Cup Action, 14-4

The six run explosion in the fourth inning propelled Hingham to win and advance to the 3rd Round of the Tournament.

HINGHAM, MA- The Hingham Harbormen baseball team faced the Silver Lake Lakers on Monday Afternoon in the 2nd round of the Patriot Cup. Hingham is coming off a win against Quincy last Tuesday, 8-7. Silver Lake is coming off a win against Hanover last Tuesday, 8-2.

Silver Lake scored the first two runs of the game in the first inning, but their lead did not last long as Hingham took the lead at the bottom of the first, 3-2. One run was off a Silver Lake error and Mike Rizzo did a home run.

In the third inning, Hanover extended its lead when it scored 2 runs, including a John Volpe RBI single, making it 5-2.

Then in the 4th inning, Hingham scored 6 runs when they collected a bunch of hits and took advantage of two Silver Lake miscues.

In the 5th inning, Silver Lake scored 2 runs to lessen the deficit. Then, Hingham’s Volpe did a 2-RBI Single to extend it to 13-4.

Jack Barclay came off the bench and did a sacrifice fly to the last run of the game, which means that Hingham won 14-4 against Silver Lake.

Hingham will advance to the 3rd round and will face Plymouth South on Wednesday, time is not determined at this moment, please check this post for updates.
