Hingham Fire Battles Blaze At Shipyard Home

HINGHAM, MA — Careless disposal of smoking materials were blamed for a house fire at the Hingham Shipyard Tuesday night.

Hingham Local Firefighters 2398 said they received calls about the fire on USS Amesbury Drive about 8 p.m. with Group 1 responding. Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire.

The firefighters union said the Hingham Fire Marshal, Massachusetts State Police and State Fire Marshal's Office conducted an investigation and determined that careless disposal of smoking materials on the deck were the cause of the fire.
