Hingham Noise Law Before Selectmen Next Week
The Board of Selectmen meets next Thursday at Town Hall.

The Hingham Board of Selectmen will take up a noise bylaw when it meets next Thursday, Jan. 23.
The draft law, which residents may comment on by emailing foleyb@hingham-ma.gov prior to the meeting, has been posted on the town website.Â
The law would create individual maximum sound levels in residential areas in the morning and evening hours and during the week and on weekends.Â
It also establishes fines for violating the ordinance, ranging from $100 for a first offense to $300 for a third and subsequent.Â
Exemptions to the law include law enforcement and fire vehicles, public address systems at sanctioned events, and snow removal equipment noises.
