Hingham Resident's Package Stolen Outside Home

Be careful about leaving package out this holiday season.

The Hingham Police Department reports the following:

On Monday, December 16, 2013 a resident from North Hingham reported a delivered package had been stolen from their outside their home.

The residents confirmed with UPS that the box had been delivered to the rear door of their home at 1:30pm. When the residents arrived home later in the day, the box had been stolen. In this case, the box contained stationary that would be of no value to others.

It's a reminder that if you are expecting a package try to arrange for a friend or neighbor to pick it up rather than leave it outside. These types of thefts can happen anywhere and are usually a crime of opportunity and not planned. The thief does not know what's inside.
