South Shore Conservatory Pianist Places First In Talented Young Musician Competition

Hingham High School sophomore Karen Ji performed at the Carnegie Hall in New York City on December 5.

South Shore Conservatory (SSC) congratulates SSC pianist Karen Ji of Hingham who performed December 5 at Carnegie Hall in New York City along with other musicians who placed first in the Talented Young Musician Association’s 12th Annual Russian Music Competition held in Boston in early November.

A student of HuiMin Wang, Karen started her piano studies when she was six, and started studying at South Shore Conservatory at the age of nine. This is Karen’s third win at the Russian Music Competition and third performance at Carnegie Hall. She regularly competes at SSC and has also won multiple overall and first prizes in both solo and concerto competitions. Karen recently was the grand prize winner of the 26th Annual Concerto Competition at South Shore Conservatory and, as the winner, performed a Mozart Concerto with Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition to piano, she also participates in the cross country and tennis teams at Hingham High School, where she is a sophomore.
