Wahlburgers Rolls Out 'Deliverator' Eco-Friendly Service

The Massachusetts-based Wahlburgers chain is making deliveries a bit cleaner, for the environment that is. The burger chain rolled out its new zero-emissions "Deliverator" in August.

The coronavirus pandemic has pushed most restaurant business to delivery and Wahlburgers is no exception. Wahlburgers deliveries jumped to 25 percent of its sales, as opposed to the previous 4 percent before the pandemic, according to Forbes.

Wahlburgers teamed up with Acrimoto, an electric car manufacturer, on a pilot program to field test the new vehicle. The Deliverator is a three-wheel electric vehicle designed for local and last-mile delivery. It gives off zero-emissions and features a top speed of 75 mph, a 102 city mile range, over 20 cubic feet of cargo space. The vehicle is so small that three of them could be parked in one space.

The pilot program kicked off in August in Key West, Florida.

“When the opportunity came for Walhburgers Key West to begin making zero-emission deliveries in the Deliverator, I jumped at the chance,” said Mark Wahlberg.
