WATCH: Water Main Break In Hingham: South Street Closes
A contractor's vehicle struck a water main on at South Street, causing the break, Hingham police said.

HINGHAM, MA — A water main break closed South Street at Fort Hill Street and Hersey Street, police announced. According to Hingham fire officals, the break was caused by a National Grid truck striking a water main while working on a gas line. Police said access to the South Shore Country Club was available from Fort Hill Street.
Fire officials said they cleared the scene around 1:30 p.m., and the road has since reopened. Several companies were called to the scene to make repairs. There's been no update on the damage and how long repairs will take.
