$5K+ Raised For Family After Somerville Fire
A fire caused significant damage to a home on Melvin Street May 26.
SOMERVILLE, MA — A GoFundMe campaign has raised more than $5,000 for a family that was displaced by a fire in Somerville last week.
Unseasonably hot weather posed a challenge for firefighters battling the Melvin Street blaze, which resulted in significant fire, smoke and water damage to the third floor of the home.
"The home of Gideon Augustin, a third-grader at St. Paul's, was badly damaged as a result of the house fire on Wednesday, May 26," Mariya Manzhos, who started the fundraiser, wrote. "Everyone is safe, however most of the home was destroyed as well as the family's belongings."
