SOMERVILLE, MA — Acting Police Chief Charles Femino has promoted Christopher Ward to acting deputy chief, the Somerville Police Department announced Thursday.

Ward has served with the department for 32 years and was instrumental in it receiving its first certification by the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission in 2017. He most recently served as the captain of the Criminal Investigation Division.

Femino replaced former police chief David Fallon, who retired in December. This is Femino's second tenure as acting chief in Somerville after a 30-year career with the police department.
