Construction Worker Falls Off Second Story Porch

SOMERVILLE, MA - A construction worker was hospitalized after falling off the second story porch of a Willow Avenue home, Wicked Local reported.

Fernando Cortez, 60, fell after the rotten railing he was repairing broke Wednesday, Wicked Local reported. It is unclear if work on the porch had been permitted, according to Wicked Local.

Cortez was unconscious after the fall and was rushed to the hospital. His injuries were not fatal, Wicked Local reported.

Somerville's Inspectional Services Division placed a stop work order on the house and an Occupational Safety and Health Administration employee was at the scene, according to Wicked Local.
