Driver Accused of Fatally Hitting Woman in Wheelchair Arraigned

Henry Park, 62, of Somerville was charged in connection with a hit-and-run that killed a 77-year-old woman.

SOMERVILLE, MA - A Somerville man was arraigned in Cambridge District Court in connection with a hit-and-run that killed a 77-year-old woman, District Attorney Marian Ryan announced Tuesday.

Henry Park, 62, of Somerville was charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury or death and reckless operation of a motor vehicle.

Dorothy Steele was in her wheelchair on Columbia Street in the early morning hours of Feb. 28 when she was reportedly struck by Park, police said. The defendant allegedly drove off after the crash, police said.

Judge Roanne Sragow set bail at $1,000 cash and ordered the defendant to refrain from operating a motor vehicle for the duration of the trial, the DA said.

Park's next scheduled hearing is on June 10; he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
