Greater Boston League Postpones Fall Sports To February
The GBL announced Monday that it will participate in the newly created Fall 2 sports season.
The Greater Boston League will not play fall sports until next year, the league announced Monday. All teams will participate in the newly created MIAA Fall 2 season, which runs from the end of February through most of April.
This applies to football, cross country, golf, girls' volleyball, soccer, field hockey, competitive cheer and unified basketball. In making its decision, the GBL took into account that all of its schools are currently learning remotely and two of its communities – Everett and Revere – are designated as "high risk" for the coronavirus.
"Like everyone, we are saddened that our students will not be able to participate in the traditional fall season, but optimistic that the Fall 2 season will be a success," the GBL said in a statement.
