Green Line Extension Might Throw Out Bike Path Plans: Report
"The path...doesn't break down like the Red Line does," one resident said in opposition.

SOMERVILLE, MA - Somerville residents were not pleased when officials said that they wouldn't commit to building a bike path.
The proposed path would extend to the new Lechmere station as part of the GLX project but its construction was put into question after the GLX went nearly $1 billion over budget last year, Wicked Local reported.
Interim Green Line Extension project manager Jack Wright said the transportation project was a top priority and everything else was "secondary" at a public meeting Wednesday, Wicked Local reported.

Residents did not seem to agree: they argued the path is relatively cheap, necessary for the mitigation of pollution and would be well-used, Wicked Local reported.
"“The path is open 24/7 and doesn’t break down like the Red Line does,” one resident said to a round of laughter and applause, Wicked Local reported.
