Hit-And-Run Victim ID'd As 72-Year-Old Somerville Man

Police said the man was leaving Stop & Shop when he was hit on McGrath Highway. He remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

SOMERVILLE, MA — Police continue to search for a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run in Somerville Monday night.

Police have identified the victim as a 72-year-old Somerville man. He remains hospitalized with potentially life-threatening injuries, police said.

Troopers were called to the scene around 8:40 p.m. and found the man, who was struck while crossing McGrath Highway. Police said he appeared to be coming from the nearby Stop & Shop and was carrying several grocery bags.

Police are searching for a white minivan or SUV with front-end damage, including a damaged headlight. Anyone with information is asked to call State Police-Medford at 781-396-0100.
