New Counselor in Training Program for Somerville Teens

The program will help give teens between the ages of 13 and 15 valuable new skills.

SOMERVILLE, MA - Is your teen an aspiring camp counselor or hoping for some early job training? An exciting new program in Somerville could be exactly what they've been looking for.

Somerville Recreation will be offering a new Counselor in Training (CIT) program for the summer of 2016.

Participants between the ages of 13 and 15 will gain job training skills while working for Somerville Recreation’s summer youth programs.

Parental consent is required and the positions are unpaid. Positions are limited and all applicants are not guaranteed acceptance into the program.

Applications are due by Monday, April 25.

All CITs are expected to:

• Undergo staff training with the goal of providing CITs the tools needed to work

with campers.

• Present themselves as role models to staff and campers and exemplify the core

values of Somerville Recreation.

• Be willing to participate fully in all camp programs and activities.

• Be a positive influence on the community.

• Work cooperatively with the camp staff in providing the best possible

environment for you, your fellow CITs, and campers.

• Adhere to a strict attendance policy.

• Able to work a 20 hour per week program that runs Monday to Friday. Times are

subject to change depending on the program assigned.
