New Makerspace Potentially On Its Way To Somerville
The Globe reports that a pair of art groups have put in bids to redevelop the former Powderhouse School.

The building formerly occupied by the Powderhouse Community School at 1060 Broadway in Somerville may eventually get converted into a markerspace, according to a recent feature in Beta Boston.
The tech site reports both the group who already runs Artisan’s Asylum at 10 Tyler St. and a nonprofit called Somerville Makers and Artists are among the eight redevelopment bids that have been submitted to the City of Somerville for possible approval.
A “makerspace” is a shared workshop for artists and inventors who may, for any number of reasons, find working on their projects at home difficult and impractical.
